Methodology

Where our data comes from

Prices come from Boursorama for the listings it quotes, matched to the exact venue and currency, and from Yahoo Finance otherwise. Fund holdings, sectors and countries come from issuers' published holdings files, mainly iShares. Fees are ongoing charges (TER) from Yahoo Finance and justETF. Each asset page shows the date of its latest price.

Prices

  • Sources. Boursorama, the broker many French investors use, when it quotes the exact listing (same exchange, same currency); otherwise Yahoo Finance. A listing is never priced from another venue of the same fund, which would be in another currency or off by a factor of 100 (pence against pounds).
  • Frequency. Hourly during market hours on weekdays, for every asset held in a portfolio and for the two benchmarks. Other assets are refreshed less often; their page shows how old the price is.
  • History. Daily closes, from each asset's first trading day for held assets.

Fund holdings, sectors and countries

  • Holdings. From the issuer's published holdings file, mainly iShares, with every position and its weight.
  • Funds without a holdings file. Many issuers publish none, and swap (synthetic) ETFs hold a different basket from the index they deliver. These funds show the holdings of a fund tracking the same index: an MSCI World swap ETF shows the MSCI World constituents.
  • Sectors. The 11 GICS sectors, grouped into cyclical, defensive and sensitive.
  • Countries. Where each company is based, not where its share happens to be listed: a fund holding Apple through a German listing still counts it as American.

Fees and risk

  • Fees. The ongoing charges figure (TER), from Yahoo Finance and justETF.
  • Risk rating. The 1-to-7 risk indicator funds publish in their key information document.

Identifiers

Each listing is identified by its FIGI (from OpenFIGI), a code that differs for each exchange where the same security trades. The ISIN groups all listings of one security.

Known limits

  • Returns are price returns, without distributions paid out.
  • Holdings are a snapshot from the issuer's latest file, not a live position.
  • Assets that no portfolio holds can show prices that are several weeks old.
  • Price feeds sometimes carry glitches; the most obvious ones are filtered out of the key facts, but a chart can still show one.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my broker show a slightly different price?

Brokers quote live prices; the site uses closing prices, refreshed hourly for held assets. On a listing Boursorama quotes, the close matches it.

Why does a fund's holdings list differ from its factsheet?

The list comes from the issuer's latest holdings file, or for a swap fund, from a fund tracking the same index. Weights also move every day with prices.

Can I report a wrong figure?

Yes, through the contact page. Please include the asset's ticker and the figure concerned.
